Latest Fishing Report: On the Line

By Bob Meyer - Silver Blue Charters
June 19, 2008

Gabriola/Nanaimo June 18th

Chinook fishing has been good over the past week. The fish are running 12 to 16 pounds, and are full of fight. The Grande is the "hot spot", but Thrasher, the Cannery, and Neck Point are producing some nice fish. Depths range 85 to 180 feet. Lures of choice include: Rhys Davis teasers in clear green scale for whole or strip baits, Coyotes in black/white or green/white, the Kripple K spoon, or the green spackleback hoochie.
Ling and rockfish are now open, with a one per person per day limit. Try large jigs fished on the bottom in 40 to 65 feet of water for best results.
Prawning is still slow due to the commercial fishery.
Good fishing!
